During normal weather, it allows fresh air to circulate beneath suspended floors and within wall cavities, helping to reduce the risk of damp and timber decay. If floodwater starts to rise, the internal valve automatically lifts into place, sealing the opening to help stop water entering your property.

Once the floodwater has gone, the valve simply drops back down under its own weight, allowing airflow to return as normal. There's nothing to switch on, close or reset, so the air brick is always ready to protect your home when it's needed.
